Andrew Barry Casson Gaze was born on 24 July 1965. His nick name is Gazey. He is a former Australian basketball player. He was considered one of Australia’s greatest ever basketball players. The five times Olympic player represented his country Australia at 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000.He was the son of Australian basketball player and coach of basketball name Lindsay Gaze. He was the greatest player in the last quarter of 20th century. He was the winner of NBL, Most Valuable Player.

Andrew Gaze started his carrier in NBL when he was 18 years old. Andrew was named Rookie of the year in 1984 when he made his debut with Melbourne Tigers. He also very outshines at International arena and in the year 2000 he became the third basketball player who competes at five Olympics after Puerto Rican and Brazilian. In Atlanta Olympics 1996 he led the Boomers to their best performance. The Boomers team was also selected as flag bearer for the Australian team in the opening ceremony of Sydney Olympics 2000. He was the scoring record holder in the Olympic competition, and the second highest scorer of all time in the world championship history. After the Sydney Olympics Gaze retired from international basketball but still continued in NBL on 12 May 2005. He started his carrier in 1984 and announced to take retirement when he was forty. He played 612 games in the NBL and spends 20 years in basketball profession.

He made a record for most Olympic Games for an Australian basketball and remains the highest point scorer in Olympic history. He also played in four world championships. His total scored in his carrier in the NBL over 612 games was 18,908 points and average was 30.9 points per game. He received Most Valuable Player award a record seven times. He was also considered International Player of the Year in 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, and 2000. He won the NBL most efficient player award every year from 1990 to 1997 connectively. After 1997 the award was then discontinued because the Andrew Gaze was the only ever person who win the award. He was named one of FIBA’s 50 greatest players in 1991.

Now Andrew Gaze has fixed out his carrier as a media personality. He was appeared in different commercials like Dodo Internet and Voltaren and commentating NBL basketball matches for Fox Sports and SEN 1116. Now gaze coaching for the Melbourne Tigers junior basketball club. He trained the juniors strong, powerful, sharp, and competent. Andrew Gaze also appeared in series dancing with the stars.

In July 2007, Andrew Gaze was offered by the member of Australian Labor Party to stand as a candidate in a by election for the Electoral district of Albert Park. In recently Gaze had considered running for election for Labor. Andrew Gaze linked to state Labor seat in 2007 to 2008. He was a republican (sports factor transcript).
